SID: Hello. Sid Roth with Something More! And some of you say why Something More? Because all of you have been saying for It’s Supernatural television I wish Sid had some more time! So this is it! This is the answer to your prayers. Something More! And we’re gonna have fun because my special guest is Rabbi Jonathan Bernis but I don’t call him Rabbi, I just call him Jonathan because I’ve known him… How long have I known…
JONATHAN: I prefer that, by the way.
SID: I know.
JONATHAN: Thank you, Sid.
SID: How long have we known each other?
JONATHAN: We met in 1983. So what is that? 32 years ago?
SID: That is, that’s a long…
JONATHAN: That’s a long time!
SID: Long time. But my fondest memory of you is when you were a Messianic Rabbi in Rochester New York I would go up there for weekends or three-day retreats with you and we would pray in supernatural languages, in tongues. And I am not 90%, I am 100% convinced that you and I were praying our futures and we didn’t even have a clue when that was going on.
JONATHAN: Absolutely! I’m sure that’s the case also.
SID: And you broke into something called…by the way you’ll find that if you touch this mic…
JONATHAN: I won’t touch it.
SID: Don’t you…
JONATHAN: I’m not going anywhere near there again.
SID: All right, good! You started doing something that I had seen before and I thought was pretty weird but I knew it was God but it was so weird and the reason it was weird is no one was doing it. You know if you’ve never seen something of God it looks weird because you know it applies to your computer, what you’ve got inside of here.
But it’s called travail. What is your definition of travail?
JONATHAN: Well the way that I understand travail, and by the way this came as a real surprise. This is nothing that I drummed up.
SID: By the way…
JONATHAN: Or did by force of will.
SID: By the way, I know Jonathan. He’s such a conservative guy it’s the last thing that he would have done. (laughing)
JONATHAN: That’s true. But it was really a God thing. I was overcome with I would just call it ôthe burden of the Lord.ö The scripture talks quite a bit about the burden of the Lord at different, with different people at different times in history and I was overcome with the burden of the Lord and I was praying in tongues, other tongues, and then that wasn’t enough. The force, the intensity of the, of the sense of unction was so great that I just began to groan and, and sounds came out of my mouth, Sid, that I had never heard before and I connect this to the statement in Romans 8 where it talks about ôcreation groaning.ö Actually groaning and I believe that it’s a creative force. We are groaning to bring about a restoration. We’re groaning to bring about God’s plan for the world and in this case God’s specific plan for my life as it applied to His plan of redemption, specifically my destiny and out came these strange sounds.
SID: And here’s the thing that I have never thought, I have never said publicly. Why? Because it just came to me at this moment. Jonathan and I had the high privilege, God spoke to Jonathan, told him to do an evangelistic outreach for Jewish people. Never been done before. Never! In St. Petersburg Russia. And I went with him on the first meeting and at this first meeting Jonathan and I saw something that it, it was beyond my wildest expectations.
JONATHAN: Both of ours and it was, it was being, we were at the right place at the right time and Sid, I believe that there’s dotted lines that connect back to our times of fasting and prayer together.
SID: That’s what I’m saying!
JONATHAN: …and our travail, and what we saw in 1993 was a 4000 seat concert hall, the Oktyabrskiy Concert Hall filled every night consecutively for three nights, 4000 people standing room only. People that were turned away because of the crowds were so great and when we gave the altar calls you could feel this tractor beam coming on and almost the whole auditorium filled with Jewish people would come down the aisles. Running down the aisles.
SID: Oh! He just said the key word. They were running to be saved! Now here’s the thing I have never said publicly. I’ve never even thought or had on my radar. It wasn’t what we just said. And this is for Jonathan as well as for everyone that’s watching right now. Jonathan told me that this travail went away. It birthed something. It was almost like you know I see travail, Jonathan, as a woman giving birth to a child. It was…
JONATHAN: I do too.
SID: That’s what, that’s what was going on.
JONATHAN: I do too.
SID: We were giving birth.
JONATHAN: It’s birth pangs.
SID: This move of God among Jewish people back, what year was that?
JONATHAN: 1993.
SID: It was in ‘93. Okay. Since that time Jonathan has not moved into this travail except he just told me before we started this television show I’m going into travail. All of a sudden it’s starting again! Would you like to know why it’s starting again, Jonathan?
JONATHAN: I’m ready to hear. I think I know but…
SID: I know you know.
JONATHAN: Tell me.
SID: …but they don’t know.
JONATHAN: Something new is happening (laughing)
SID: …that I know you know but I know and we’ll tell them how to know. This is what it is. (laughing) We’re about ready to see the greatest move of God’s Spirit in history, the greatest awakening in the world and it started with the Jew 2000 years ago and it’s going to start with the Jew again. We are going to see the greatest move of God’s Spirit on Jewish people. I have no doubt. You don’t have to get your stones to stone me if it’s a false word because it’s not a false word. It’s true! Let every man be a liar but God’s Word is true! This is the fullness of the Gentile age. This is the maturity of the Gentiles. This is the set time to favor Zion. Jonathan, you know anything to do with Israel and Jewish people isà God says the Jewish people are the apple of His eye and this is the moment! It’s not that God loves Jews more than Gentile Christians or vice versa. It’s let God be God…
JONATHAN: That’s right!
SID: …and this is God’s moment for Israel. God’s moment for Jewish people. And I have to ask you something.
JONATHAN: The set time to favor Zion, Sid, is here. It is here. We are in the period known as at the ôEnd of Daysö and just as it began with the Jewish people it finishes with the Jewish people and we’re seeing this all over. The restoration of Israel. The restoration of Jerusalem in 1967 directly connected to an outpouring of the Spirit and now we’re in the final wrap-up. And the Gospel is now going again to the Jewish people and from the Jewish people. The power of God is being poured out and it will get greater and greater and greater I believe. Lighter and lighter and lighter as the world gets darker.
SID: And you know something, Jonathan? I would not want to be doing anything else than what I’m doing right now!
JONATHAN: Me either!
SID: And it’s, and I’ll tell you something else.
JONATHAN: Nor would I want to live in any other time than now!
SID: No, I wouldn’t either. In fact you told me that you’ve been feeling an unction of the Holy Spirit about the end times that the Lord keeps telling you that time is short. Tell me about it.
JONATHAN: Shorter and shorter and shorter. The end is near. I wake up with scriptures like ôthe end is near, so get ready.ö The time clock is ticking and I think that if we could see the world as a time clock it’s one minute to twelve right now. We’re that close!
SID: I believe that. But here’s the thing that gets me upset. I have to tell you. I have many prophetic friends and they’re telling me buy gold and silver and store food and store guns and store water and these are all good things if God tells me to do it because everything’s gonna get awful and they is gonna be you know, camps and they’re gonna herd Christians into these places and you know what? It’s not even on my radar! You know what’s on my radar? I see the greatest awakening the world has ever seen! I’m not focusing on that negative junk! Maybe it’s true, but no weapon formed against me is gonna prosper!
JONATHAN: Yes, amen.
SID: I like that better than my stored food!
JONATHAN: There’s two things we should be storing up. Okay?
SID: What?
JONATHAN: One, treasure in heaven. We should be storing up treasure in heaven. We should be storing up souls because they follow us to heaven. When we get to heaven we will see all the people that we impacted. And so I believe that we need to be proclaiming the good news now and storing up souls in heaven that we’ll meet when we get there. That’s the first thing. The second thing is, and I had a vision of this, Sid. I saw a water tower. And I saw this chain that was pulled and the water came gushing out. And the Lord showed me that that water tower is intercession. Intercession is like a water tower. When you intercede, when you go into, when you’re praying in other tongues, when you go into a deeper form of prayer … travail, groaning, supplication you’re actually storing a power in like a water tower and when you need it it’s like pulling the chain and out comes the power and that’s what we need to be storing up. I didn’t see that picture before that you actually are storing up prayer and when you need it that power, that dunamis is released and so we need to be storing up prayer.
SID: And that’s why praying in tongues is so important!
JONATHAN: Critical!
SID: Now let me say something. This is brand new and because of the times that we’re living in… I love it and I just dropped it…
JONATHAN: That’s the CD.
SID: I just dropped the CD but that’s what I love about Something More. I don’t care if we mess up or anything. Things don’t have to be perfect.
JONATHAN: (laughing) It’ll still play fine.
SID: Yeah! Tell me about your brand new Confessing the Hebrew Scriptures.
JONATHAN: This is the third in a series. It’s a project that I’ve undertaken to go through the names of God and to group scriptures that directly connect to that revelation of His name. There’s many. God expresses Himself in scripture in different compound names and this one is specifically dealing with God who provides, our Provider. Now they’re all… I’ve found that all of the names of God are actually intertwined. There’s overlap. But this is the very nature of God. This is the very person of God expressed through these different compound names. This one is called Adonai Yireh, the Lord who provides.
SID: Wait, wait, wait. No, no, no. It’s called Jehovah Jireh, that’s what the song says.
JONATHAN: That’s what the song says. But if you go back to the actual Hebrew it’s Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey. Which is the, there’s two passages actually that this compound name comes from. One is Elohim, God will provide. And the actual Hebrew is pronounced Yireh. I know it’s Jehovah Jireh but the actual Hebrew is Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey which is Yahweh, Jehovah. I use the word Adonai just because I’m from a Jewish background and I’m not comfortable directly pronouncing what we call the tetragrammaton, and then Yireh
SID: Wait. You know I’m comfortable doing that however I come from a background and that’s what we used, Adonai, same as you, and so I just do it because tradition…
JONATHAN: That’s right… That’s what… So it’s tradition as well. So I call it Adonai Yireh. Or it can be Jehovah or Yaweh Yireh, The Lord will provide. And if I can I’d like to tell you that the origin of this revelation because…
SID: I’d like that.
JONATHAN: …it really brings the context. When we sing Jehovah Jireh, our Provider we think of the Lord pouring out riches and wealth, divine provision and all of that is connected to the word but if you really want to understand what ôYirehö means you have to go back to the original revelation which comes from Genesis 22, verses 13 and 14. It’s the story of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his Son, his only son Isaac which is a beautiful type, prophetic type of the Lord giving us His only begotten Son Jesus…
SID: It is.
JONATHAN: …the Messiah. And it says Abraham lifted up his eyes. He’s ready to sacrifice Isaac. See this picture now. And Isaac’s not a little child. He’s old enough to fight his father and to escape but it’s an act of obedience for Isaac as well. So Abraham’s lifted the knife and it says just as he’s about to slay his son believing that if he does kill his son God will resurrect him. He has that much faith. Then he lifts up his eyes in verse 13 and there’s a ram caught in the thicket or in the thick bushes of the thorns and so he took the ram and offered it up instead of his son and he named the place Adonai or Jehovah or Yahweh Yireh, the Lord will provide. And then it’s mentioned again as the place that he calls it Adonai Yireh.
SID: And you know there’s such a presence of God when you said the word. That’s where the…
JONATHAN: I felt that anointing. That is the…
SID: The Lord will provide. But that’s in context. But when we come back I want you to explain to me why you have such an emphasis on confessing God’s word, but beyond that…
JONATHAN: The Hebrew.
SID: …confessing God’s word in Hebrew and beyond that allowing people in just a few minutes to be able to pronounce, a few seconds really, to be able to pronounce Hebrew.
JONATHAN: There a reason and I have that reason.
SID: I know you do. And this book, it’s really a coffee table book, it’s so beautiful. It’s got the interactive CD in it. And it’s got the most beautiful pictures. I mean these are amazing pictures. And you start out with the English word, then you have the Hebrew. You literally will hear it in Hebrew and you know what’s gonna start happening as you hear it in Hebrew and as you start then pronouncing it in this amazing system that Jewish people invented so that you could speak instant Hebrew, it’s called ôtransliteration,ö you will begin to memorize these words. You’re going to begin to speak them out loud. This is what I find. When you, when you memorize in English the Holy Spirit then brings it to remembrance…
JONATHAN: That’s right.
SID: …and it’s gonna actually bring the Hebrew to remembrance and were gonna find out why Hebrew is so important. But you’ve done two other books like this in this series. What feedback do you get from people that have these books?
JONATHAN: We’ll we’re getting a lot of feedback and only some of it makes it to me because we have a big ministry. So they write to the ministry and then some of them are forwarded on but we’re getting dozens if not hundreds of responses. People that are actually experiencing a transformation. When they confess scriptures that where the Lord promises healing they get healed. Where they confess promises that deal with God’s peace and rest and fighting anxiety peace comes over them and now the provision, divine provision.
SID: Now when you say provision, as you said, of course it includes finances and that’s where the emphasis is…
JONATHAN: Yeah, it’s much more!
SID: …in America. But it’s more, it’s more than that.
JONATHAN: Much more. Well again, the context of it is the Lord providing a ram as a substitute for the sacrifice of Isaac so the greatest meaning is the Lord providing His Son for us and everything that Yeshua provides for us in His atonement and His resurrection. So it’s huge. It’s abundance. It’s divine blessing. It’s multiplication. All this is caught up in the word Yireh. It’s lacking for nothing. It’s prosperity, Sid, in the Biblical sense. Prosperity has been a bit distorted. Biblical prosperity, and that word is Shalom so it’s ties in now to peace.
SID: You know there’s so much tied in once you understand the Hebrew.
JONATHAN: It’s amazing!
SID: And we’re gonna make this available to you at a very low price. I can’t wait to get it in your hands. It’s the CD. You’ll hear it. An Israeli is actually speaking it in Hebrew. You’ll then see it phonetically and then you’ll have the English and that’s why it’s called interactive. It’s all put together. And I’m telling you if you just got this book for these beautiful pictures it would be worth it but it’s way beyond that. I think you need to get not only this book but his other two which we’ll make all three available for an investment of 79 dollars and for an investment of 39 you can get the brand new one, Adonai Yireh, The Lord Will Provide and when we come back you’re gonna find out the importance of meditating, the importance of Hebrew. Be right back.
