SID: Sid Roth here with Pastor Benny Hinn. Benny, I can just picture myself there because I was at a meeting, many meetings with her. And I, but I can picture you. I really can. What did she say that really affected you next?
PASTOR BENNY: Well what happened in the service, which I’m told by her staff had never happened prior or after, Miss Kuhlman began to weep, like audibly weep, sobbing. And she, her head went down like this on the pulpit and she began to cry. The whole audience just was stunned by that. And then she lifted her head up, and I will never forget the look on her face. Her face was reddish, her eyes are glazed and she pointed with such power to the audience and began to plead, and I mean plead, like beg, “Please do not grieve the Holy Spirit.” Well I never heard such a request from anyone, especially saying it with that kind of emotion. But it was so, it came from her depth. And then as she went on to talk, she said, “Don’t you know He’s all I have. Please do not grieve Him, do not wound Him.” And I was like, you know, I’m 20, actually 20-something years old listening this amazing woman talk about the Holy Spirit that I never thought I’d hear anyone say such things. But then when she said, and began, very alive, she said, “He’s more real to me than you.” And when she said that, everything in me exploded and I said, “Dear Jesus, I want to know you like that.”
SID: There’s something that I read about you, and compared to what you’re saying, it almost seems like nothing, but it just affected me so much. I read you were in England and you were praying, and the Holy Spirit was there. And the Holy Spirit spoke to you when they called you for dinner.
PASTOR BENNY: Yeah.
SID: Tell me about that.
PASTOR BENNY: Well that year, the Watsons had taken a tour to Europe and I was a part a group called [Hebrew], the Glory. [unintelligible] travelled a lot to the U.K. and Holland. People who were a part of where I am, you know, had us as guests. So that family was a part of the Youth With A Mission. And a very elegant lady that I still remember kept calling my name, “Benny, come on, you know, it’s lunchtime.” And I was just with the Lord. And as I’m walking out, and this, the first time that I had ever had that happen, I mean, I felt a very gentle hand with five fingers, may I add, I felt a hand touch my arm right here and held me back, and very sweetly it said, “Five more minutes please, please just five more minutes.” And everything in me froze.
SID: Can you imagine the Spirit of God, you’re being called to dinner and the Spirit of God saying, “I want to be with you five more, please, five more.” That reminds almost of Kathryn Kuhlman saying, “Please don’t grieve the Holy Spirit. He’s all that I have.” Let me ask you something. Give me two keys as to how we can know the Lord.
PASTOR BENNY: Well, we all know Him, we just don’t recognize Him. He is the Spirit of Jesus. And that’s really what I’ve learned over the last 40 years. The Holy Spirit, even though a separate person, when people ask me, who is the Holy Spirit, here is my answer. He is Jesus unlimited.
SID: Give me an answer to this question. Tell me the two keys that we can know the Holy Spirit better.
PASTOR BENNY: Talk to Him. It’s really one key. Just talk to Him. I think the greatest sin against him is when we ignore him. We just have to talk to him. And you know, my mother-in-law, my sweet darling mother-in-law, many years ago said, “Well who do I talk to, the Father, the Son or the Holy Spirit?” I said, “Pauline, there is no competition in glory.” The Holy Spirit is God Almighty.
SID: You know, most people think of the Holy Spirit as a power.
PASTOR BENNY: No, no, no, no, no. That actually insults him. He is God Almighty equal to the Father and the Son in glory and majesty. He is as real as Jesus, as real as the Father. He is a person with intellect, His own mind. He makes His own decisions with emotions, has His own feelings.
SID: Can you, Kathryn said, “Please don’t grieve Him.”
PASTOR BENNY: Yeah.
SID: You see people grieving the Spirit of God?
PASTOR BENNY: All the time, because they ignore Him. I think that’s the greatest wound we cause Him is when we ignore Him. But think about the Holy Spirit having His own will. Listen, had the Holy Spirit changed His mind on not raising Jesus from the dead, the Lord would still be in the grave today. That’s how powerful He is.
SID: I’ll tell you, your teaching, the revelation that Pastor Benny has on the Holy Spirit, but I, you know what, when we come back, I believe the atmosphere is pregnant for miracles.
PASTOR BENNY: Amen.
SID: Don’t go away.
