Sid: Don’t you understand that the Messiah is coming back quickly and there are so many people that are literally being talked out of their faith right now, and all the way back to elementary school and junior high and senior high and college. Parents don’t even know the answers to the basics of what they’re saying to undermine belief in the Bible. And we have got a book by my friend James Nienhuis it’s called “Old Earth Why Not” and he proves why it isn’t old. There are so many areas that are so fascinating; you’ll want to read this book yourself you’ll want to understand, especially if you’re a teacher, and then you’ll want to help young people understand. The book is written in such a way that not only will the young people understand this and be able to defend their faith but they’ll get saved. I mean they’re going to be so fascinated for instance; you have an area in your book Jim in which you talk about the predictions of the Messiah’s incarnation. Now in Judaism and Islam they’re very upset about such things as God having a son as the virgin birth. Explain why you believe this; in fact you go over even what the odds are of these prophecies as so many of them coming to pass.
James: Yes, maybe we’ll see if you a few conversions of gamblers. (Laughing)
Sid: Well, let’s go for it. (Laughing)
James: (Laughing) To begin you know God says or the word says, the word is Jesus of course the word became flesh and dwelt among us. In Genesis the word says “Let us make man in our image,” the word is Elohim “Let us make man in our image.” So that’s the trinity, God the Father, Jesus the word and the Holy Spirit, you know who empowers us and you know gets done in the earth what he wants done. So there is the trinity in Genesis so let no one say that God is just one part of the God head is not true. The Hebrews will have to admit it says Elohim plural so it’s kind of case closed on that. And there’s predictions all through the Old Testament about the word becoming flesh and dwelling among us, Emanuel “God with us.” You know that term is used in the Old Testament, Emmanuel God with us, that is to say that God would come down to be in flesh form and to die and to resurrect to be the Messiah which was not what a lot of the Jews were expecting at Jesus time. They were expecting a military victory not a victory conquering death it would bring all the nations to God through the children of Abraham as God told Abraham. But in Micah for instance it says that “Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.” Now at the time of Christ there was about 2000 towns, villages in Israel so that in and of itself is rather miraculous that the town was predicted.
Sid: It even goes further than that, Micah says Bethlehem of Judea and there were five Bethlehem’s at the time it just happened to be Bethlehem of Judea, it got even more precise.
James: Well, thank you very much Sid, that’s good to know I did know that. King David, I believe it was King David who wrote this Psalm around a thousand BC, predicted that Messiah, but Emanuel elsewhere written in the Old Testament and God with us. Would be pierced in his hands and feet, now that speaks crucifixion method but David must have scratched his head how strange. For you see the crucifixion of torture and death by the state wasn’t invented until 300 years after David. So this was like something David probably scratched his head about but there it was manifested in Christ, death on a cross.
Sid: It shows we have to follow what God says even if our peanut brain says “Tilt.”
James: Oh, absolutely, yes David did write it down never the less didn’t he? (Laughing) As well you know I forget which verse it is in the Old Testament Sid maybe you can help me but anyway it’s important.
Sid: Its Zachariah 11:12.
James: Yes, well it just predicted that he would be betrayed for thirty pieces of silver and that money would be used to buy burial plots for poor foreigners. Now come on! The interesting thing about what’s written in the New Testament which reveals the manifestations of the accuracy of these ancient prophecies is that the people where around they were still alive at the time that Christ was crucified when the first gospels were being distributed around 80 AD, 90 AD, a 100 AD. A lot of those people were still around and none of them Sid can contested the accuracy of what is written in the New Testament nobody questions it. There is no record of it even the Romans attest to the Christians movement caused by this man Crestus who is “killed in Palestine.” Palestine a meaningless term of course and that’s only where the Philistines live. You know in their time frame. So you know the evidence is the predictions for Christ coming are there’s 48 major specific prophecies like the two or three I just sighted.
Sid: Right.
James: 48 of those Sid and there’s like 300 more Minor prophecies in total in the Old Testament all having been fulfilled in Jesus manifestation 2000. But the odds of only 48 of them manifested as they did in His life the odds of only 48 of them happening are the odds of picking out a red grain of sand out of a universe full of white colored gains of sands, a blind man doing it. Those are the odds.
Sid: Those are no odds, I mean that’s off the chart. Let me ask you because I am just overwhelmed over the potential of your book “Old Earth Why Not?” Because I know what our kids are being hit with, I know that many adults like myself accepted some of the accounts in Genesis purely by faith because the scientific evidence looked overwhelming on the other side, but you explain why they’re all myths. Of all of the myths that you talk about in this book and I have to say that I love what you do at the end because you lead the person right to Jesus and they actually can come to know the Messiah. But of all the myths in the book, what do you, if you could talk to John Q. Evolutionist, John Q. Atheist and you had to pull one out what would be the one you would talk about?
James: I would have to say that the intertwining, the commonality, let us say it this way, the commonality of ancient people groups histories is astounding. The Babylonians, the Assyrians, the Egyptians the Hittites, the Hebrews, the Israelis, the Israelites, the ancients they all speak of a global flood. And they all have knowledge of Adam and Eve the first man, they have different names for that and there. Now if the Israelis dreamed all this up around the time of the Babylonian captivity as the skeptics of the Bible say they dreamed it all up it’s all mythology. Then why do all of these other ancient people groups recollects jive with what written in the Bible and so many important basic ways? You know global encompassing flood; 10 generations of patriarchs before the flood as recounted in the ancient Babylonian legends and some Indian legends of the America. On and on constant commonalities of themes and recollections of history which belie that that the Israelites dreamed it all up at the time of Moses or later. That’s really what sticks out in my mind.
Sid: And if you were to have one shot at the question of why the world cannot be 6,000 years old; that’s just a fairytale what would be the one statement you would make?
James: Well, this is covered in the age of the universe chapter you know the earth is supposedly billions of years old, well check this out there’s a scientist say that there was an exploded planet in or solar system and those are the debris from that is the comets we see orbiting in our solar system.
Sid: Right.
James: Okay, they all should have ejected, burned up by going near planets or impacted planets; all of them Sid within 10,000 years. And so you know how the scientists get around that they contrive, they made up the Ork cloud which is a supposedly a comet manufacturing plant just outside of our solar system of which there is no evidence.
Sid: And that’s the simple reason why it’s not true, there is no evidence.
James: Plus the reason is that there is something out there that we have no evidence of.
Sid: So why do they teach all of these things as fact in the universities?
James: Well, when you can make us stuff like the Ork cloud, and you can make up stuff like missing links of which there are zero, then you can go on some. If you can make people believe that sedimentary rocks up on the continents got there by anything other than water being up on the continents laying down these vast layers that are stacked like pancakes grading into each other you can pull off all that then you got a class in the public school Sid and it rock and roll time.
Sid: Jim Nienhuis I want to thank you so much for writing the book “Old Earth Why Not?” And I’ve got a passion for your children and grandchildren and even you to understand the book of Genesis it’s based on truth!
