Sid: We want everyone everywhere to be so red hot, so filled with the Spirit of God that you won’t even be able to keep quiet. But what is so exciting to me is the Spirit of God for those that will allow the Spirit of God is coming on children and children are operating in the purest gifts of the Spirit. For instance my guest this week is Becky Fischer. I’m introducing her book and its great title “Redefining Children’s Ministry in the 21st Century.” And the children rather than being demoted and sent to TV and Popcorn, are going to be up front prophesying. For instance Becky on yesterday’s broadcast, and recap just a little bit you were in Monterrey, Mexico and a group of children were prophesying, tell me about that.
Becky: Alright it was a group of kids from our ministry that went down and was with our international or one of our directors in Mexico. They were ministering in a church of about 600 hundred people on a Sunday morning. At the end they just began to spontaneously start calling people out and giving words of knowledge, and prophesying over them. Before they knew it all 600 people were in the middle aisle wanting to come down and get prophesied over because of these kids. And so there was this woman who came onto the front of the line and this girl just started prophesying over her when one of the guys said, “No wait a minute, I got a word for this fellow in the back here.” He points the man out identifies him and he says, “Sir I feel like God is saying that you’re thinking about divorcing your wife, but the Lord wants you to know not to divorce your wife because he’s going to restore your marriage.” And right then the woman in the front of the line begins to cry and she goes, “That’s my husband.” I mean this kind of stuff happens all the time, you got to be living right if you are going to be working with kids because they will read your mail. And as I said yesterday it’s like they almost don’t have prophetic politeness, they don’t know when they’re saying that’s out of line. And I mean they will call out the sins of people, this has been going on for years, they’ll call out the sins of people and point out adulterous affairs that are going on in the church and on and on. God speaks through children.
Sid: Do they have enough faith to pray for the dead?
Becky: Oh my goodness, there’s numerous examples, the one I share in my book is about these little girls that were in Africa. The man that told this to me works for one of the largest nonprofit organizations over in Africa where they feed the hungry, and they’re responsible for many orphans and all. And so I took him as a very credible source; he said that when he, first early on he was working with children, didn’t know any better, but to teach them everything that you would teach to an adult, he didn’t know, he wasn’t supposed to teach them anything but Bible stories. And so he began to share everything with them. Well one day these two little girls were home by themselves and their mother who had been very, very sick died all of sudden. Of course they don’t have 911 and they don’t have you know ambulances and different public things that you can call on and the little girls just began to weep and sob because they knew that their mom was gone and they would just beside themselves not knowing what they were going to do, apparently there was no father around. And all of a sudden the older of the two girls who would have been eight or nine at the time pulled herself up and said, “Stop, we can’t cry anymore and the sister said, “Why not? Because our pastor told us that God can do anything and she said we must pray that our mother comes back to life again.” So they laid hands on their mom and began to pray and just in a moment that older girl was standing at the gates of heaven in vision and the angel was standing at the gate, and the angel said, “What are you doing here?” And the little girl said, “I’ve come to get my mother she died, but we need her back on earth.” And the angel reached out and put some kind of a glowing ball in her hand of some sort and instantly the little girls was back in their mud hut in Africa at the bedside of her mother, she reached out and laid her hands on her mother, the girls began to pray and her mother came back to life again.
Sid: I’m going to tell you, some of the experiences that these children are having I know few adults that have had experiences like that. You know what comes to my mind Becky is you have to be like a little child to enter the kingdom of heaven, how much easier is it for a little child to be like a little child than us adults.
Becky: Well, not only that, but Jesus never told a child say now, you need to become like an adult before you can come to me; he told us adults you need to become like a little child. Children are innocent, they’re full of faith they are very trusting. If you tell a small child that there is a pink elephant with purple polka dots out in the back yard out in the back yard he doesn’t stand there and challenge you and argue he goes and looks in the window. And children are like that, we educate them out of their faith the older that they get.
Sid: Oh, what an awful statement, by the way your book “Redefining Children’s Ministry.” In your heart of hearts why did you write this book, what was your motivation?
Becky: My motivation is to be a wakeup call to the Body of Christ. I am an alarmist if you will to the Body of Christ that we have got to do something different than we’ve been doing if we’re going to capture this generation, survive as a church, and be relevant in our culture at all, and relevant in the world. And I have watched for years and years, and having been a children’s minister myself on staff at various churches I seen it’s not that we weren’t loved and appreciated, and that we weren’t given nice budgets and all the rest. It was like, as long as you keep the kids busy and out of our hair we really don’t care what you do you know, and you know, just give them the Word of God. You know I can honestly say in ten years of children’s ministry not one time did an elder, a board member, or a pastor ever come and look and see what was going on. Many children’s ministry they don’t get any budget, they don’t get any resources, you stick them in the backroom, you stick them in a basement, you stick them in a trailer outside the main building, well let’s keep them busy with coloring books and crackers, Graham Crackers and Kool-Aid, and play a few Veggie-tails. Tell videos and Adventures in Odyssey, and tell them a couple Bible stories and that’s good, that’s their good spiritual education. But the truth of the matter is kids are desperately hungry for the supernatural. I have a sermon that I preach that I call “What the psychics know about Kids that Christians don’t.” And the unfortunate fact is that psychics all over the world there is a huge movement where they are actually educating, training and if you will for lack of a better term ministering to children who are naturally prophetic, that’s the word that we would use. They would say naturally psychics because they have a natural bent for the supernatural and of course they are training them in New Age, and to do their mantras and a lot of other Eastern religion type things. They’re healing with crystals, there are movies out about them, they have seen credence.
Sid: So if we don’t sell children the real thing what will happen when they see the counterfeit?
Becky: See that’s it, once they’re educated to know they can begin to sense the difference between the truth. The issue is Christian parents are raising kids that are already prophetic, but a lot of these kids and parents don’t know how to mold them and train them and point them in the right direction. So it’s very easy for those kids to get off in other areas like Harry Potter, or Pokémon cards or whatever they’re getting their supernatural experiences and they don’t know how to distinguish between the two. That’s where the church is very important.
Sid: Give me some feedback you’re getting from people that have read your book.
Becky: Oh, my goodness, the list is endless; we had a church out in Washington in the Seattle, Washington area that read the book, they had me come in and hold a weekend conference in their church. They bought out curriculums and began using the curriculums and almost from the day they started using the curriculum revival broke out in their young people’s meetings and these were teens as well as children. It was amazing they began to weep and cry and the revival that spawned off of that the Pastor’s daughter began to pick up the banner in intercession, and it was a revival that went on for oh I would say at least a year. Other people, there’s a church down in San Antonio, Texas that read out book, came to our camps and conferences, began to use the materials, the curriculums that we write for children’s ministry. They have some of the most amazing prophetic kids. I went down there and ministered just a couple of years ago and in the Sunday morning service during the praise and worship, it’s a very prophetic church to begin with, and the people will get up and spontaneously sing a song a prophetic word over the guest speaker. And this eight year old boy got up and began singing over me, it was the most amazing thing I’d ever seen; this child prophetically speaking out in song spontaneously.
