Sid: Now I have interviewed several people within the last few months that have talked about a revelation that many know, but they don’t do anything about it and it’s got to do with unforgiveness. And it is the most amazing thing to me when someone’s deals with their unforgiveness the healings they wanted all of a sudden they get their healings the most wonderful breakthroughs they have. But my guest has taken that teaching to a new level, I believe it’s an end time revelation for the church that will literally reverse curses in your life; that will literally allow you to have answers to prayer where you’ve not had answers in the past; that will literally cause the pause button on prayers that you’ve been praying for years to just go on fast forward and it’s called “The Power of the Blessing.” Now Kerry Kirkwood, there is a place near my area and I drive by it often and it’s a topless bar and every time I drive by I curse it, I command it to be burnt to the ground and to leave that community. And I read about what when someone got a hold of your teaching and it was a very similar, and by the way it’s been there year after year after year after year. I’m on instant pause, but I was reading a testimony of someone that had the identical situation, tell me about that.
Kerry: Yeah, it was a friend of mine, a pastor up in Dallas and I was researching for Power of Blessing and I had seen the instances in my own life that began to make some changes. So I was sharing this with him and so he started trying it by this topless bar with a thriving business he said, the parking lot was full every evening. And he went through the thing of cursing, feeling like he was doing God a service in this and to his community. And so I was sharing with him concerning the heart of God for those people and how deceived they were so he began to bless them and speak over them that all of those people that entered this bar, and the need and the emptiness they have that the Lord would fill them and he blessed them with the promises of God to be filled with the knowledge of the Son of God. And within a matter of days with less than two weeks he drove by and there was a sign up that said, for sale. He said that it wasn’t for lack of business, but that they just moved out, moved out of the community and he realized that it says that when you bless and not curse you bring God into the middle of the issue and the problem.
Sid: Well, I was asking you before we went on the air because this revelation is really deep and the more I listen to your tapes and the more that I read your book of teaching called “The Power and the blessing,” the more I understand that very few Christians understand the power of the blessing. And then once you understand it it’s not so easy to do because we’re so use to putting the religious hat on, but when did this revelation first occur to you?
Kerry: Well I guess, you know I knew that it was good to bless because the Bible says, “Bless and curse not,” and I thought that that’s just a nice thing to do. But one day my wife and I were in Dallas area and we were driving down Interstate 30 and a young man in a pickup pulled in front of me, crossed the lanes, I slammed on the break and I was even surprised at what I said, “I hollered out idiot!” And my wife whose and intercessor looked at me and she said, “Pardon!” And I remember my mother saying you know you never call anyone that and I said, “Well, you know he is he almost killed us.” And a mile or two down the road, I heard the Lord say to me, “Why did you call Me an idiot?” I knew I wasn’t saying that to myself and so I said to the Lord, In my mind, well I was having this conversation in my mind, “Well Lord I never called You and idiot.” He said, “Yes, you do because My word said, how can you curse the thing that you see and bless me who you cannot see?” So I said, “Well, I wouldn’t curse You. “But I created him, I love him.” And I just really felt like I was just cursing one of His kids. And so He prompted me again “Now bless him.” I kind of flippantly said “I bless you,” as if somebody had just sneezed of something and so He prompt me again and He said, “No bless him the way that you wanted to be blessed, so whatever you sow, so you’ll reap.” And so I really started saying, “Okay, I bless him you know to be his family, that he’ll get home safely, I declare over him that he would come into the knowledge of the Son of God,” and before I knew it, I was saying things over this young man that I never thought of before and that “He would be a delight and joy for his family and so on,” instead of being so mad an aggravated and mad at him I really began to see his heart from the perspective of Our Father. And so I felt the pleasure of the Lord, the only way that I can describe it is like athletes tell me that when they’re running and they the endorphin; the chemical in the brain starts flooding their body and they kind of in their body get a second wind and they just enjoy running. I felt that same release in my physical, my spiritual, emotional body as if I had tapped into a heavenly resource and it was like the Lord was saying, “Now that now, that’s a chip off the block, that’s My heart.” And I felt the pleasure of God so extremely that I wanted to do it again, it was like it was addictive to me.
Sid: Give me a scripture to back up what you’re saying right now; what’s the strongest scripture you can come up with?”
Kerry: Well, I think 1 Peter 3 and verse 9 says “Do not return evil or insult for insult, but instead giving a blessing where as when we give a blessing that we will inherit the blessing for unto such we were called.” And so the word blessing, there in the Old Testament “barouk,” in the New Testament is “eulogia,” we get the word eulogy from when we do funerals someone gives a eulogy and it means to speak well of, it means to speak large of, to get God’s attention for it. And so for a lot of us we are really good at reporting out environment like we’re thermometers. But with blessing we’re like the thermostat, we change the environment by simply declaring what God really wants to happen in this situation or this person or on the job, with maybe a husband or wife, so instead of giving them how we feel or returning to them some ugly thing that they said to us, we turn that, we break it off and now it has become something that is good.
Sid: You know I am so amazed Kerry that when you kick into that spiritual gear rather than getting in almost like the big divide in America between the conservatives and the liberals and it’s sort of like one group of America only watch Fox the other group will only watch CNN, but when you kick this into this gear, it’s got nothing to do with arguing and reasoning’s of the moment, it’s like the most wonderful thing.
Kerry: Exactly, blessing is actually what the Bible says or the apostle Paul says we have mind of Yeshua, so it’s possible to have his thoughts and mind and how we see a situation instead of seeing it as something adverse to us we begin to see it through the eyes of God.
Sid: Now did you have any idea when this situation occurred in your life and you called someone an idiot that it would open a realm of teaching that would affect relationships with children, marriages, health, finances, destiny, did you have any idea that it would take you there?
Kerry: No, in fact it’s really just the grace of God that it would take a negative and gently correct me and say now let me show you from My perspective. Because Psalm 1 says “Blessed is the man that does not set in the seat of the scornful, but delights in the Lord and then Ephesians 2 says that “We can be seated with Him in Heavenly places,” so the difference between blessing and cursing, it depends on where you are going to sit.
Sid: Now the testimonies that I’m reading, they are so dramatic and they are so quick, I mean someone’s whose wife is at the attorney filing for divorce gets a hold of your teaching and switches gears or better yet, switches Spirits and the most amazing things happen. But I want to take you back to as a young kid is probably one of your first supernatural experience, you’re six years of age, what happened to you?
Kerry: Well, I was raised in a very, I would say normal home, A Christian home, my Dad did not attend church, but my mother did and I one day I was playing outside, playing I the sand box so to speak and doing the thing that I loved doing, building roads which was what my Dad did, and it seemed like all of a sudden that creation, everything around me, the birds stopped singing, everything became so still that I couldn’t hear nature around me, that it got my attention. It actually frightened me and I didn’t want to look up; and so I had the feeling that I was the only one left on the planet. I ran in the house and asked my mother I mainly wanted to see if she was still there.
Sid: It sounds like a left behind series that someone that was left. You thought you were left and she left. Ha-ha.
Kerry: Oh God, I hope I’m right I knew that something was spiritual, I didn’t know what to call it, but my mother said in her words there was an over shadowing, you felt the presence of God and she began to tell me, I’ve known since you were born that the hand of the Lord is upon you. So I had a realization that we’re not alone, I mean that the power of God is around us constantly and …
Sid: Oh Kerry, I’m sorry we’ll pick up right here on tomorrow’s broadcast, trust me on this one, this a paradigm change in your whole thinking that will change an affect your entire destiny.
