SID: Hello, Sid Roth your investigative reporter of the Supernatural, here with Eric Carlson. We found out that Eric who was an officer in the US Navy was in a submarine at the bottom ocean. All of a sudden, the spirit of God comes on him and he literally felt like he was drunk for three days. But God started speaking to him; and he wrote, when I say drunk – this is what happens when the spirit of God, he wasn’t drunk, but when the spirit of God comes on human flesh you just can’t tolerate it. And he started writing down as if God was dictating to him his future. And he was told he was going to change careers, he was told he was Jewish, he was told that he had to get a tallit; which he didn’t even know what the word meant. It’s a Jewish prayer shawl. He had to get a yamaka; he didn’t know what that word meant. It’s the head covering. He had to go through the mikvah; he had never heard of such a word. Mikvah is the Jewish form of baptism, where actually baptism came from. He went to a library, he did his research. God had gone ahead with his wife; she was all prepared for this thing. And then he goes to his mother; he did not have enough nerve to go to anyone else; and his mother said to him, yes when we came to the United States our name was – what was your last name?
ERIC: It was Lindberg
SID: It was Lindberg, not Carlson and it was changed. Why did they change it?
ERIC: Because of the anti-Semitism and the Pilgrims in Russia and Europe; and our family had came; and was trying to get a fresh start, and get away from anti-Semitism and persecution. So they had changed their name to hide the identity that we were Jewish.
SID: Now God said you were under a curse. What was the curse?
ERIC: The curse was upon us because of the name change and it was denying who we are. And the Jewish people had been called to be a light unto the nations and to deny that, deny out Jewishness that the family was cursed. And the Lord had spoken; the Holy Spirit had said to break this curse and to do a mikvah, and to make a public pronunciation, a public pronouncement that Ay, I was Jewish. I tell you it was like a slap in the face. I was uh, our society teaches us it is bad to be Jewish. So I was very nervous to stand in front of all our friends, all of our family, in front of a congregation of 1100 people and say, I am Jewish. But that power and the presence that I felt at sea was more powerful than anything else. And I knew one thing and one thing only that whatever the Lord said to do that I was going to do it. So we scheduled, we had a mikvah set up. We picked a Sunday evening; and my entire family got together, we made professions of faith.
SID: And again, a mikvah is a Jewish baptism.
ERIC: That’s right, it’s a baptism. My children immersed themselves
SID: The whole Mishpochah; the whole family.
ERIC: All of them, they were all there. And we made a fresh pro, and right then and there; and I call this like a road to Damascus encounter like what Paul had; because immediately, right then and there that night I began sharing the good news and sharing the gospel. We invited Jewish people, Jewish friends. We invited all of our Jewish neighbors. I didn’t know any better. The Lord said to do this so we did it. We had orthodox Jewish people there, we had conservative Jewish people there; and immediately the fruit just like Paul, immediately the fruit started coming and the people began receiving Yeshua.
SID: Question? When the curse was broken, because God said, if you would go to the Jewish mikvah, the curse would be broken. What change occurred with you and your family?
ERIC: The change was immediate; there was like a weight lifted off of us. And there a numerous diseases even in my own family from diabetes, to kidney disease, to heart disease and into my age it has come to fruition. It was in my mother, it’s in some of my family members, but me – nothing. No sickness, no heart disease, no – because all those curses were broken after we did that Mikvah, did the public profession just like the Holy Spirit said.
SID: Now God said you were going to change careers, so you resigned from the US Navy and you became a Rabbi of a One New Man congregation. Explain.
ERIC: Well, and again it’s like the words of Jesus, you can’t put new wine into old skins. And uh, God, Yeshua’s coming, Jesus is coming back so soon, and we know that the key or the linchpin to this is the revival of the Jewish people. And this is specifically what the Lord had us work to is to ‘start sharing my son Jesus with my people.’ And that is what we did. We began outreaching, we began doing some mailings in our communities. Initially we didn’t start with a congregation or service; we just began reaching out to the Jewish people. And we began receiving fruit and the Jewish people began receiving Jesus, and they said well we don’t know where to go. They felt uncomfortable in churches, there were not any typical Messianic Synagogues in our area; so we began a once a month Shabbat meeting in our church, Friday night; and within several months so many people were coming that we went to two nights a month and within seven months, we were going every Friday and that was five years ago. The blessings and the outpourings continue to come. But it’s something fresh, it’s something new. It’s not a Messianic, typical Messianic Synagogue and it’s not a church, but it’s Spirit led. And it’s so amazing; I just did what the Holy Spirit said to do. We celebrate the feast days we have worship music, we light the Shabbat candles; we sound the shofar. But we don’t have a lot of liturgy. Again it’s not a church service; it’s not a typical Messianic service. It’s something new – it’s fresh wine.
SID: You told me that not just Jewish people are coming to the Lord, and they are but even Arabs.
ERIC: Yes, yes, Muslim people. Cousins the sons if Ishmael are receiving Jesus coming to these One New Man Shabbat services.
SID: You know what is even more exciting to me is you took your worship, dance worship team, in which your wife leads, to Siberia recently; and the pastor of the church had a good friend that was a Rabbi of an orthodox synagogue; invited him to the church and he heard you speak. Did he think much of it?
ERIC: Well, I blew the shofar and out of this, it was a church service and it was a celebration service of a ten year anniversary, and there were numerous events and dancers and it went on for about five hours. Through most of the stuff the Rabbi you know kind of bid his time to be there. But when I come up and I sounded the Shofar that made him…
SID: That grabbed his attention
ERIC: That grabbed his attention, but nothing spectacular yet. But when the dance team got up and when they did the worship; and it’s the One New Man dance team. There’s Jew, there’s Gentile, there’s Black and White and Hispanic; they’re all there worshipping the God of Israel to Israeli, to klezmer-type music; and it was sung in Russian. And when the rabbi heard that, and the music started to play and the dancers started dancing he sat up in his chair. Because before this, earlier, he had his arms folded, like bidding his time.
SID: Well you know what Eric, what occurs to me is, the Bible says that the Gentile’s job, in Romans 11:11, is to provoke the Jew to jealousy. This is provoking the Jew to jealousy. Maybe this is why the power has been missing. Guess what? The power’s about ready to be turned on. Don’t go away. Be right back after this word.
